Siegwerk

Siegwerk is a manufacturing complex with historic buildings, including a gatehouse and residential structures arranged along the Siegburger Mühlengraben water channel. The site spans a significant area and functions as one of the world's largest single-location printing ink production facilities.

The site began operations in 1830 when a printing and dyeing company relocated from Cologne to Siegburg. This move marked the beginning of industrial development that eventually transformed the location into a major production center.

The gatehouse museum displays exhibits about printing ink production and how manufacturing methods evolved locally. Visitors can trace the development of production techniques through the displayed materials and information.

The complex can be partially visited, with the gatehouse museum serving as the main entry point for visitors. It is advisable to check in advance which areas are accessible and when guided tours are offered.

The complex features a private freight station that was connected to the Siegburg-Olpe railway line and facilitated cargo transport until 2016. This station was essential infrastructure for supplying and shipping the facility's products.
