Hans-Dietrich-Genscher-Haus, Political party headquarters in Berlin-Mitte, Germany.
The Hans-Dietrich-Genscher-Haus is a brick building with neo-Renaissance design elements located at Reinhardtstraße in central Berlin. The five-story structure displays classical architectural features and distinctive window groupings that define the streetscape.
The building was constructed between 1908 and 1912 as a hospital for the Dominican Order and later adapted for administrative use. Following Germany's political changes in the 1990s, it was repurposed as an office building.
The building has housed the headquarters of a liberal democratic party since 1999. It serves as a center where German political decisions are made and discussed.
Access to the building is limited due to its use as office headquarters. However, the exterior architecture can be viewed and photographed easily from the street.
The building once served as a hospital named Sankt-Maria-Viktoria-Krankenhaus before abandoning its medical function. This past chapter remains visible in its architecture and speaks to the site's changing purpose over time.
