Gesellschaftshaus Grünau, Historic dance hall and restaurant in Grünau, Germany
The Gesellschaftshaus Grünau features a large ballroom with eight-meter-high ceilings and stands along the banks of the Dahme River.
Built in 1874 as a beer house, the building expanded in 1888 to become the Riviera House, serving as a central meeting point for Berlin society.
The venue hosted performances by Russian orchestra Nowoje Slowo in 1935 and remained a major entertainment center in East Germany until 1990.
Following extensive renovations between 2016 and 2021, the protected architectural monument transformed into a residential complex with four new buildings.
The building's original brick façade underwent modifications in 1957, when decorative elements were replaced with gray stucco during structural updates.
