Sportdenkmal Berlin-Grünau, Sports memorial site near Dahme River in Grünau, Germany
The memorial featured a 15-meter-high pyramid structure built from 300 stones, positioned next to the regatta grandstand along the Dahme riverbank.
Emperor Wilhelm II attended the memorial's inauguration on June 12, 1898, during the second day of the Grünau Regatta competitions.
Over 300 water sports clubs from across Germany contributed inscribed stones to construct the memorial's base, representing their commitment to athletic traditions.
Remaining fragments of the memorial are displayed at the Grünauer Water Sports Museum, which opens every Saturday from 1 PM to 6 PM.
In 1973, East German authorities demolished the monument at night, dispersing the commemorative stones to various locations throughout the region.
