Südpark, Heritage park in Marienburg, Cologne, Germany
The Südpark extends over 4.65 hectares with curved paths leading through pine groves and rhododendron bushes, creating spacious connected lawns in the center.
The Cologne real estate company donated 50,000 square meters of land in 1898, enabling the city to establish this park under landscape architect Adolf Kowallek.
The park features a bronze panther sculpture created by Fritz Behn in 1920, which received monument protection status along with the entire park.
Visitors can reach the park using bus line 106, which terminates at Am Südpark street, and find a playground in the eastern section.
The semicircular layout splits into two sections by Goethestrasse, with former pine fields transformed into structured green spaces with evergreen undergrowth.
