Kälberwerder, River island and park in Wannsee, Germany.
Kälberwerder spans 170 meters in length and 60 meters in width, forming a natural space of 0.5 hectares in the Havel River near Berlin.
The island transferred ownership to the Ruderklub am Wannsee in 1926 after Albert Thiemt purchased it in 1909 and made it available to club members.
Two oak trees with bronze plaques stand on the island to honor Olympic gold medalists from 1936 and 2004, representing local athletic achievements.
The island sits 400 meters northeast of Pfaueninsel, offering opportunities for water sports and nature observation throughout the year.
This uninhabited green space maintains its natural state within Berlin's urban environment, serving as both a park and a sacred grove.
