Hochbunker Riesenfeldstraße, World War II bunker in Milbertshofen, Germany
Hochbunker Riesenfeldstraße is a five-story round concrete tower with a flat roof located at the intersection of Petuelring and Riesenfeldstraße. The structure features a distinctive cylindrical shape and natural stone framing at its entrance points.
The bunker was built in 1941 under architect Karl Meitinger's direction and constructed by building company Gebrüder Rank. It served Munich's population as shelter during World War II air raids.
The structure shapes the urban landscape with its distinctive circular form and visible traces of its past as a shelter. Visitors can today observe the sturdy walls and clear geometric design that characterize bunker architecture from that era.
The building is maintained today by Munich's city administration and stands at an easily accessible street corner in the Milbertshofen neighborhood. A modern ventilation shaft has been installed on the side to supply air to the tunnel beneath it.
This bunker was designed according to the same blueprint as Hochbunker Lerchenauer Straße, making it one of a rare pair of identical shelters in the city. This matching design reflects the standardized planning methods used for bunker construction during the war.
