Sea Life München, Public aquarium in Am Riesenfeld, Munich, Germany
Sea Life Munich is a public aquarium housing more than 2,500 marine creatures spanning 260 species, including seahorses, jellyfish, turtles, and stingrays. Different themed zones recreate various underwater environments and regions.
The aquarium opened in 2006 within the Olympic Park, featuring one of Germany's largest shark collections. Since its opening, it has established itself as a major visitor destination.
A section displays fish native to the Isar River, connecting visitors with the aquatic life that actually lives in Munich's waterway. You see the species that inhabit the river flowing through the city.
The facility features elevators and accessible ground-floor areas, making exploration easy without stairs. Pathways are flat and spacious, allowing visitors with children and strollers to move comfortably throughout.
Visitors walk through an underwater tunnel observing 18 different shark species and a recreated shipwreck. This tunnel experience creates the feeling of being submerged in the ocean.
