Olympiahalle, Multi-purpose hall in Am Riesenfeld, Munich, Germany.
The Olympiahalle is a modern event building in the Milbertshofen-Am Hart district of Munich with 15,500 seats and variable floor and stage configurations. The hall features a sophisticated lighting system and a roof structure with transparent surfaces that allow daylight to enter.
The building was inaugurated in 1972 for the Summer Olympics and served as a venue for gymnastics and handball. The architecture was created as part of the comprehensive redesign of the Olympic grounds in northern Munich.
The name refers to the 1972 Summer Olympics, for which the building was constructed. Visitors today see a multi-purpose venue where international artists perform and sports events take place.
The hall is located in the Olympic Park and is easily accessible by underground. Wheelchair spaces are available, and the interior allows flexible adaptation to different types of events.
Below the main hall is the Kleine Olympiahalle, a separate space with 4,000 seats for smaller events. This additional area operates independently from the upper floor and considerably expands the range of uses for the complex.
