Central Denmark, Administrative region in Jutland, Denmark
Central Denmark is an administrative region spanning much of Jutland, featuring a diverse landscape of coastal areas, heathlands, forests, and lakes across nineteen municipalities. The region covers roughly 13,000 square kilometers and serves as a major part of the country's geographical and administrative structure.
The region was created in 2007 following a major administrative reform that reshaped Denmark's traditional counties into five new regions. This restructuring significantly reduced the total number of municipalities across the entire country.
The Regional Council holds monthly meetings in Viborg, where 41 elected members make decisions about healthcare, education, transportation, and environmental matters.
The region contains several hospitals and medical centers that provide healthcare services to residents. Visitors will find well-developed infrastructure with good transportation connections between the various municipalities and larger towns.
The region maintains a gross budget of 28.9 billion Danish Kroner and employs 30,000 people to manage public services and healthcare facilities.
