Jylland, Steam frigate and museum ship in Ebeltoft, Denmark

Jylland is a wooden steam frigate measuring 71 meters in length, moored at the waterfront in Ebeltoft. The ship displays cannons, cabins, cargo holds, and machinery from the mid-19th century.

The Danish Navy commissioned the ship in November 1860 and kept it in service until 1908. It fought in 1864 near Helgoland against Austrian warships in one of the last sea battles involving wooden vessels.

The ship represents Danish maritime tradition at a turning point when navies switched from sail to steam power. Visitors walk through authentic spaces where sailors lived and worked during decades of active service.

Visitors board the ship and explore several decks, from the engine room to crew sleeping quarters. Be prepared for steep stairs and low passages, as the interior follows the original layout.

Children take part in simulations on board, operating cannons and learning traditional rope-making. Instructors in period clothing demonstrate how the crew worked in the 19th century.
