Ørnereden is a picnic site in Marselisborg Forest, south of Aarhus, with a roofed shelter, tables, and benches for outdoor dining. A children's playground and a staircase leading down to the beach are located nearby.
The Marselisborg Forest area was gradually opened to the public during the 20th century as a recreational space for the city of Aarhus. Ørnereden became one of the gathering points within the forest, used by local families and school groups over the decades.
The site is open to everyone and easiest to enjoy on dry, mild days when children can use the playground freely. Parking is available nearby, and a public toilet can be found just east of the small kiosk.
The name Ørnereden means 'eagle's nest' in Danish, which is a curious name for a flat forest clearing used mainly for picnics. Visitors can also gather dry branches and twigs from the ground to light a small fire, as collecting wood for personal use is permitted in this part of the forest.
