Mølleparken, Municipal park near ARoS Museum in Aarhus, Denmark
Mølleparken is a public park adjacent to ARoS Museum in Aarhus featuring three grass islands extending from the library steps toward the river, with granite-paved areas and scattered trees. The space creates an open area for walking and gathering between the museum district and the old town.
The park was established in 1926 on the grounds of a former mill dating to 1289, after the old industrial structure was relocated to Den Gamle By. This transition marked the shift from industrial use to public recreational space.
Eleven bronze busts of Danish authors, such as Steen Steensen Blicher and Marie Bregendahl, stand in the northern section near the former library building. These monuments reflect the city's deep connection to literature and the arts.
The park is accessible year-round and features open, level pathways that are easy to walk through, with trees providing shade and rest areas. It serves as a convenient stopping point between museum visits or for a riverside stroll.
A movable sculpture called 'Snake' by artist Phil Price was installed in 2014, bringing contemporary art to this historical space. The work playfully connects the areas between the museum district and the Latin Quarter.
