The building combines Maghrebi architecture with minimalist design elements, featuring a marble foyer, spiral staircases, and a central performance hall for 1,400 spectators.
The Chinese State Construction Engineering Corporation completed this cultural venue in 2016, replacing the former Algerian National Theater Mahieddine Bachtarzi.
The opera house maintains three resident artistic ensembles: the National Symphony Orchestra, the National Ballet, and the National Ensemble of Andalusian Music.
Located along the national highway connecting Algiers to Tipaza, the facility offers two parking areas, ballet rehearsal rooms, and piano practice spaces.
The complex spans 35,000 square meters and includes a grand performance hall capable of accommodating up to 12,000 people for large-scale productions.
