Villa du Bardo, Historical palace in Sidi M'Hamed, Algeria.

The villa extends over 1650 square meters and includes a 550-square-meter courtyard with marble checkered flooring and a central fountain.

Built between 1780 and 1790 by Mustapha Ben Omar, a wealthy Tunisian exile, the villa later became the property of the French state in 1926.

The palace transformed into the National Museum of Prehistory and Ethnography in 1930, preserving collections of Paleolithic and Neolithic objects from Algeria.

The museum opens from Saturday to Thursday, 10 AM to 6 PM from May to September, and 9 AM to 5 PM from October to April.

The name Bardo derives from the Spanish word Prado, meaning garden, referring to the 15th-century Hafsid palaces.
