Tomb of Shuroy, Ancient tomb in Dra Abu el-Naga, Theban Necropolis, Egypt
The tomb features two primary chambers arranged in a T-shape configuration, with walls containing hieroglyphic inscriptions and painted decorations depicting religious ceremonies and daily activities.
During the New Kingdom period between 1550-1069 BC, this burial site belonged to Shuroy, who served as the Head of Brazier-bearers of Amun in ancient Egypt.
The tomb walls display numerous ceremonial scenes, including the Opening of the Mouth ritual and banquet celebrations with musicians performing for the deceased.
Located on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor, the tomb requires advance arrangements through licensed tour operators for access and exploration.
The ceiling of the first chamber maintains its original bluish-white coating with geometric patterns and exhibits red ochre decorative elements that form distinctive friezes.
