Cadena SER, Radio station and news agency in Gran Via, Madrid, Spain
Cadena SER is a radio station and news agency based on Gran Via in Madrid that broadcasts nationwide from several locations. Programming includes current bulletins, sports coverage, discussion panels, entertainment formats, and cultural contributions available through 105.4 FM and digital channels.
The company began in November 1924 as EAJ-1 Radio Barcelona and became the first licensed radio station in Spain under the government of General Miguel Primo de Rivera. Over the following decades, the network grew and adapted through different political shifts until reaching its current form.
News programs and talk shows from the station have become a daily companion for many Spanish listeners, especially during morning commutes and lunch breaks. Different regional studios bring local accents and their own topics into the programming, making broadcasts sound different depending on the region.
Programs can be accessed anytime through the official website and mobile apps, in addition to the broadcast on 105.4 FM across large parts of the country. Podcasts and replays provide access to missed shows and allow listeners to follow content on their own schedule.
Between 1939 and 1977, the station was not allowed to broadcast its own nationwide news and had to relay bulletins from Radio Nacional de España instead. This restriction shaped editorial work for decades and only ended with the political change following the death of Franco.
