Cala Barques

Cala Barques is a sandy cove on the northern coast of Mallorca, nestled between rocky cliffs and offering clear water for swimming. The beach sits sheltered within the cove, providing space for visitors to relax and enjoy the water.

In ancient times, Mediterranean sailors used this sheltered inlet as a natural harbor during trade voyages between mainland Spain and Mallorca. The protected position made it a valuable stop for maritime routes in the region.

Local fishermen maintain their traditional practices at the cove, launching small boats in early morning hours to catch fish using time-honored methods.

Bring your own food, water, and beach supplies as the cove has no shops or amenities. There is a short walking path from nearby parking areas to reach the beach.

At low tide, natural rock pools form along the cliffs where schools of Mediterranean fish gather in the shallow water. These temporary pools reveal marine life that is normally hidden beneath the surface.
