Puig Tomir, Mountain summit in Escorca, Spain
Puig Tomir is a mountain peak reaching 1103 meters in the Serra de Tramuntana range on Mallorca. From the summit, the view extends across much of the island and sometimes toward the neighboring island of Menorca.
The area contains remains from medieval Moorish settlements dating to the period of Islamic rule on the island. These ruins show how people have inhabited and used the mountain landscape over many centuries.
The summit holds meaning for local hiking communities who have walked these routes for generations, passing through spaces shaped by shepherding and small-scale mountain farming. The paths connect traditional settlements and grazing lands that still mark the landscape today.
The circular route to the summit covers about 9.5 kilometers with roughly 700 meters of elevation gain, so wear sturdy hiking boots and bring plenty of water. The trail is moderately challenging, so plan for a full day and bring snacks and enough liquid for the entire walk.
On clear days, you can see both Pollença Bay and Alcudia Bay in different directions from the summit. You might also spot black vultures circling above the ridge, a reminder of the area's unspoiled wildlife.
