Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, Five-star hotel in Jerónimos district, Spain.
Mandarin Oriental Ritz sits in a Belle Époque building beside the Prado Museum and offers 153 rooms decorated with classical European elements. Interiors display stucco work, chandeliers, and furniture recalling early twentieth-century architectural tradition.
King Alfonso XIII commissioned construction in 1910 to establish Madrid as a destination for European nobility and international visitors. The property reopened after renovations that preserve its original architectural heritage.
The restaurant Deessa, led by chef Quique Dacosta, holds two Michelin stars for its approach to Spanish cuisine blending traditional recipes with contemporary techniques. Guests experience dishes that reflect regional ingredients prepared through modern methods.
Access is through Plaza de la Lealtad, a short walk from major galleries and cultural venues in the city center. The property includes a heated indoor pool, steam room, fitness area, and five restaurants offering different culinary directions.
Materials from the Royal Tapestry Factory were incorporated during construction, and the structure was among the first in Madrid to use reinforced concrete. This technical choice allowed more generous room layouts than other buildings of the same period.
