Madrasah of Granada, Palace and university center in Granada, Spain
The Madrasah of Granada exhibits Nasrid architectural elements with intricate stucco decorations, calligraphic motifs, and a horseshoe-arch doorway at its entrance.
Founded in 1349 by Sultan Yusuf I, this educational institution operated until 1500 when Spanish authorities suppressed Islamic institutions and burned its library.
Students at the Madrasah studied mathematics, law, theology, astronomy, and medicine, while scholars like Ibn al-Khatib contributed to its academic reputation.
Located at Calle Oficios 14, the Madrasah opens daily from 10 AM to 8 PM during summer and 10 AM to 7 PM in winter with entry fees of 2 euros.
The prayer room remains the only preserved section of the original structure, featuring authentic elements hidden behind walls during the Christian period.

Grenada is a city experienced like a poem. At the foot of the Sierra Nevada, it combines Muslim heritage, Catholic fervor, and Andalusian rhythm. Behind ochre facades lie shaded patios, fountains, mosaics, and carved arches that tell eight centuries of history. The Alhambra watches over the city like a stone dream, the Albaicín district unfolds its white alleys, and the gardens of Generalife recall the delicacy of Nasrid rulers. At every turn, a bell tower follows a minaret, an Arab market opens onto a baroque cathedral. Granada is as much an open-air museum as a living place, where flamenco still escapes from the Sacromonte caves. Between spirituality, art, and jasmine fragrance, the Andalusian city retains an elusive, almost mystical beauty.
