The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is a large place of worship with a Latin cross floor plan, a single main nave, five side chapels, and an octagonal apse. The building displays Renaissance features throughout its design and holds an important position in the town's layout due to its size.
Construction started in 1495 and continued through the following centuries as the town grew and more space was needed. The church gradually developed into one of the largest temples in the Diocese of Ciudad Real.
