The initial construction began in the former Llanos de Martiánez natural pools area, with the first section opening in 1971 under architect César Manrique's direction.
The facility stands as Europe's largest outdoor contemporary art museum integrated with swimming pools, featuring sculptures and architectural elements by multiple artists.
The complex contains seven seawater pools of varying depths, with four designated for adults and three for children, monitored by multiple lifeguards throughout operating hours.
The facility includes an underground casino situated below sea level, making it the only subaquatic gambling establishment in the world.
