Edificio Bel Air

Edificio Bel Air is a residential tower rising 26 floors to a height of 75 meters (246 feet), standing prominently along Puerto de la Cruz's coastline. The structure displays design elements from its origins as a hotel before being converted to apartments, featuring a facade that reflects mid-century building practices.

This tower opened in 1960 as a hotel shaped by American architectural trends that were spreading across Spain at the time. Two decades later, changing urban needs led to its conversion into residential apartments, reflecting shifting priorities in local development.

This building changed how the town looked, moving away from lower traditional structures toward taller residential homes. It became a symbol of how Puerto de la Cruz developed over time.

The building sits near central waterfront roads, making it easy to spot from the promenade and surrounding streets. Keep in mind that interior access is restricted to residents, but the exterior can be viewed freely from public areas along the coast.

This structure ranks among only four major high-rises on Tenerife island, making it architecturally significant at a regional level. Its shift from hotel to residential use foreshadowed how many coastal Spanish towns would later adapt tourism-focused buildings to meet changing housing demands.
