Puerto de la Cruz Lighthouse, lighthouse in Spain
The Puerto de la Cruz Lighthouse is a navigational beacon located on the northern coast of Tenerife, positioned west of the harbor. The square black tower with a cylindrical red and white striped interior stands 27 meters tall and provides a light signal visible from approximately 30 kilometers away.
The lighthouse was completed in 1995 and began operating in 1996. It replaced an older beacon that stood on the harbor pier and is one of seven lighthouses marking the entire coastline of Tenerife.
The base of the lighthouse is accessible with open access from the outside, though the interior is closed to visitors. The surrounding area offers open spaces with sea views that invite walking and exploring the waterfront.
The lighthouse beam flashes every seven seconds at night, serving as a distinctive visual marker for sailors to identify their exact position at sea. Its sharp silhouette against the sky makes it an effective visual reference point for both daytime and nighttime navigation.
