Playa de San Telmo

Playa de San Telmo is a sand beach in Puerto de la Cruz shaped like a horseshoe with two distinct sections. Tidal pools form naturally between the dark volcanic rocks, while a rocky outcrop protects the shoreline from heavy ocean waves.

The beach was historically protected by a defensive wall that was partially demolished in past decades due to safety concerns. This removal reshaped the shoreline and created the current layout visitors see today.

The beach serves as a gathering place for residents, especially during local festivals and celebrations that mark the cultural calendar of Puerto de la Cruz. The wide promenades invite both visitors and locals to stroll and meet throughout the year.

The beach has modern facilities including showers and wheelchair access ramps following a recent major renovation. A waterfront promenade makes it easy to walk along the shoreline and explore the area comfortably.

Natural rocky pools called charcos form between volcanic stones and create small sanctuaries where children can watch sea creatures in shallow water. These natural basins are part of the geological makeup and offer unexpected opportunities to observe marine life up close.
