San Felices del Rudrón, Rural village in Province of Burgos, Spain.
San Felices del Rudrón is a small village in the Province of Burgos situated at about 680 meters elevation on the northern slope, near the borders of Palencia and Cantabria regions. The settlement sits on the left bank of the Rudrón river, surrounded by rocky cliffs that define the valley landscape.
The village appears in written records for the first time in 1160 in Cathedral of Burgos documents, which mention a property donation in Sancto Felicis. This early mention suggests an established settlement that was already part of regional life.
The village takes its name from Saint Felix, though today the main celebration on August 1st honors Saint Peter Advinculus instead. The church stands at the heart of community life and reflects the religious traditions that shape daily interactions.
The village is easily accessible via the N-623 road, while the BU-V-6222 offers a connection to nearby Basconcillos del Tozo through the La Lora region. Keep in mind this is a very small settlement with limited services and amenities for visitors.
Vultures and other raptors nest in the rocky cliffs above the valley and can often be seen gliding through the gorge. This rich bird life makes the area a special destination for visitors interested in nature.
