Platja de Portinatx, White sand beach in Sant Joan de Labritja, Spain
Platja de Portinatx is a sandy beach on Ibiza's northern coast with white sand and clear water that slopes gently. The cove spreads wide and opens to low vegetation and pine trees that frame the shoreline.
This cove was a remote fishing spot until tourism development in the 1960s gradually brought changes to the northern coast. It remains one of the quieter beaches compared to other Ibizan shores.
Fishing families have shaped the character of this cove for generations, with their boats anchoring in the shallow waters each morning. You can see how older fishermen still teach younger ones the traditional ways of working the sea.
Showers, restrooms, and lifeguard services are available during the summer swimming season. You will find the beach less crowded if you arrive early in the morning.
The cove connects to neighboring rock coves through several hiking trails that wind through pine forests. Many visitors do not realize they can reach three other hidden beaches within an hour of walking.
