Torre del Andador

Torre del Andador is a fortified tower that stands on the highest point of Albarracín's defensive walls and features a square base. The structure rises above the old town and offers views across the surrounding landscape.

The tower was built in the 10th century as a standalone watchtower and was integrated into the city walls in the early 11th century. The structure became part of a long defensive tradition that shaped Albarracín over the centuries.

The tower displays construction methods typical of medieval fortifications in the region and shapes the town's appearance when approaching from the south. The stonework reflects the different peoples who inhabited this place over time.

The tower is reached through the old town, and the climb involves navigating narrow streets of the medieval layout. It is advisable to wear good shoes, as the pathways are uneven and steep.

The tower forms part of a defensive triangle together with the Alcazar and Torre de la Muela, with an artificial moat carved into the rock. This three-tower defensive system shows a sophisticated approach to protecting the town.
