Cemetery of San Francisco, Ourense

The Cemetery of San Francisco spreads across Montealegre Hill and contains a large collection of mausoleums and gravestones. Throughout the site, pathways lined with laurel and cypress trees organize the grounds and provide a sense of structure.

The site was established in 1834 with bishop approval to serve as the main burial place for the city. A secular section was added in 1887 to accommodate Ourense's growing population.
