Port of Garachico, Maritime port in Tenerife, Spain.
Port of Garachiko is a marine mooring facility on the northern coast of Tenerife with 160 berths on floating pontoons. A 650-meter protective dike shields the installation from Atlantic waters.
The original harbor was founded in the 17th century as the main trading port of Tenerife but was destroyed in 1706 when a volcanic eruption filled the bay with lava. The current port was built much later on a different site.
Local fishermen use the port to bring their daily catches directly to markets and restaurants in town. This working routine shapes daily life at the waterfront and connects the harbor to the community.
The port offers access to potable water, electrical connections, and waste management services at its moorings. A parking area and onsite security are available for visitors.
The infrastructure incorporates natural lava formations from the 1706 eruption integrated into its modern design. This makes the port a place where geological history and contemporary structure merge.
