Anja's Park, Arboretum in Mikkeli, Finland.
Anja's Park is a seven hectare arboretum in Mikkeli with 28 ponds and diverse tree species spread across hilly ground. The terrain creates varied landscapes with water features woven through the plant collections.
The arboretum was established in 1968 when artist Anja Laaksonen planted the first tree at Honkalahti. Over five decades she transformed the site from a small yard into an expansive garden.
Artistic installations made from natural materials like rocks, tree trunks, and roots are scattered throughout the grounds. These creations show how the founder blended art with gardening across the landscape.
The grounds have been closed to visitors since 2020 following the death of founder Anja Laaksonen. Before planning a visit, check current access conditions as the status may change.
The grounds are home to various animals including peacocks, pheasants, turkeys, and rabbits. This mix of wildlife adds a living dimension to the plant collections.
