Naisvuori, Observation tower and park in Mikkeli, Finland.
Naisvuori is an observation tower and park perched on a hilltop overlooking Lake Saimaa in Mikkeli. The structure rises 43 meters above the lakeshore and offers panoramic views across the water and city from its viewing platform.
The tower was built between 1911 and 1912 as a water tank for the city. It is the second oldest structure of its kind in Finland and the oldest still operating, with its original function preserved throughout.
The name references a female protective figure from Finnish mythology, connecting the hilltop to local folklore. Today it serves as a gathering place where visitors experience one of central Mikkeli's most valued outdoor destinations.
Access to the tower is via stairs from Puutarhakatu street. The site operates during summer months and has a café for visitors to use.
Beneath the hilltop sits a rock cavern that served as a military communications headquarters during World War II. After the war, this underground space was converted into a swimming pool.
