Maailmanpylväs is a residential tower 44 meters high with 13 floors located in the Halssila district of Jyväskylä. It contains 52 apartments with glass walls and sliding doors that open onto timber-decked balconies overlooking Jyväsjärvi lake.
The structure was designed by JKMM Architects and Juha Mäki-Jyllilä, opening in 2014 as part of the Housing Fair in Äijälänranta. It marked a moment when Finnish builders began creating taller residential options in urban areas.
The building shows how Finnish residential design has evolved to embrace taller housing while keeping nature close to everyday life. Residents experience both urban convenience and natural surroundings from their homes.
The location offers easy access to essential services and public transportation in the Halssila district, making it convenient for residents and visitors. The balconies provide excellent vantage points to view the lake and surrounding neighborhood.
Three apartments were created specifically as model homes for the Housing Fair, showcasing cutting-edge design approaches for Finnish residential living. These units served as demonstration spaces showing how residents could live in modern tower housing.
