Calenzana

Located on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, Calenzana extends over 182 square kilometers from sea level to an elevation of 2,144 meters.

In 1732, Calenzana became a central location for the Corsican nationalist uprising against the Genoese authorities who controlled the island at that time.

The Church of Saint-Blaise, constructed in the 15th century, stands as a principal religious structure in the center of Calenzana.

The commune maintains essential public services including a town hall, administrative offices, and a gendarmerie station for its 2,566 residents.

Calenzana marks the northern terminus of the GR 20 hiking trail, which stretches across the mountainous spine of Corsica for 180 kilometers.
