The Sainte-Marie-Majeure church displays a salmon-colored facade with a central dome and a white bell tower rising above the roofs of Calvi.
Built in 1774 on the site of a 4th-century paleochristian church, the building received historical monument status in 1988.
The church contains four chapels dedicated to Saint Erasmus, the Immaculate Conception, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and Saint Anthony of Padua.
Visitors can access the church free of charge on Rue Clemenceau, with opening hours from 8 AM to 6 PM daily.
A 15th-century painting on leather depicting the Immaculate Conception demonstrates the special devotion of Calvi's inhabitants.
