Les Mousseaux tumulus

The tumulus measures 18 meters in length and 14 meters in width, containing two transept tombs enclosed by three dry stone walls arranged in tiers.

Built around 3500 BCE, the burial site received its historical monument classification in 1889 and contains chambers aligned with the winter solstice sunrise.

Archaeological excavations in 1837 revealed pottery fragments, animal bones, and a triangular limestone axe, now preserved in the Dobrée Museum in Nantes.

The tumulus stands at the end of Chemin des Mousseaux, 600 meters north of Noëveillard beach, with guided visits organized by the Pornic Tourism Office.

The structure includes two separate tomb systems: the southern passage leads to four chambers while the northern one connects to only two chambers.
