Plage des Grandes Vallées, Sandy beach in Pornic, France

Plage des Grandes Vallees is a sandy beach in Pornic on the French Atlantic coast stretching about 150 meters with golden sand and rock outcrops. The beach sits in a natural cove protected by cliffs, creating separate sandy sections divided by rocky formations.

The beach was developed in the second half of the 19th century by Constant Blandin, owner of Villa Calypso, who built bathing facilities. This development made the spot a fashionable bathing destination during the Belle Epoque period.

The area shows traditional seaside architecture with preserved bath houses and villas from the Belle Epoque era, reflecting French coastal resort heritage.

The beach is easily accessed and visitors will find a restaurant called Zagaya directly on the sand, offering meals from spring through autumn. The sheltered location with natural wind protection makes it accessible for visits throughout different seasons.

The beach sits in a natural cove shielded from winds by tall cliffs and features several distinct sandy zones separated by rock barriers. This layout creates sheltered areas that protect visitors from strong winds and heavy swells.
