Festival des Filets bleus

The Festival des Filets Bleus is an annual maritime celebration in Concarneau featuring traditional Breton dances, music performances, and fishing demonstrations spread across five days along the harbor quays. The waterfront transforms into an animated space where visitors directly experience the deep connection between the town and the sea.

The event began in 1905 during a sardine fishing crisis to support local fishermen and their families in Brittany. From this hardship emerged a gathering that remains central to the region's cultural life today.

The festival displays Breton traditions through processions where people wear traditional clothing made of velvet, silk, and lace while playing regional instruments. These costumes and lived customs pass through generations and form a core part of local identity.
