Station des Rousses

Station des Rousses is a winter sports facility offering both downhill and cross-country skiing across four linked villages in the Jura mountains. The slopes and trails span elevations from around 1100 to 1700 meters, with multiple lift systems and rental shops at various points throughout the terrain.

The resort was founded in 1962 and developed from a small mountain station into a major winter sports center in the Jura region. As interest in the area grew, more lift systems and trails were added to serve increasing visitor numbers.

The villages around the slopes are known for their dairy farming heritage, and local eating places serve regional dishes featuring Comté cheese and other Jura specialties from nearby producers. Food and mountain traditions are woven together in how people spend their time here during and after skiing.

The area is accessible during winter months and well marked with signage throughout the terrain, with parking available at different points in the villages. Beginners and experienced skiers can find lessons and rentals at several locations, with cafes and warming huts scattered across the slopes.

What sets this place apart is the ability to switch between downhill and cross-country skiing in the same day without leaving the area. This combination of two very different skiing styles in one location makes it unusual for the region.
