Puy Cervier, Mountain summit in Hautes-Alpes, France
Puy Cervier is a mountain summit in the Hautes-Alpes that rises to about 1,244 meters (4,082 feet) within the Eastern Alps range. The peak sits among several valleys and is accessible through a network of established hiking routes.
The mountain paths developed over centuries as local farmers and herders created routes between their villages and summer pasture areas. These historic routes remain the foundation of the hiking network used today.
The trails around this summit have long connected the villages and communities of the region, still serving the same routes locals have used for generations. Walkers today follow paths that shaped daily life in the valleys below.
Hikers can reach the mountain via a loop trail of about 10 kilometers starting from Valserres with a moderate elevation gain of around 430 meters. The warmer months offer the best hiking conditions when the paths are generally snow-free.
The summit offers views across multiple valleys of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. On clear days, visitors can see the landscape extending well beyond the immediate surroundings.
