Free and Real, Eco-community in northern Euboea, Greece.
Free and Real is an eco-community in northern Euboea, Greece, operating across three locations dedicated to sustainable living research and education. The site includes a mountain base, a test facility, and headquarters where ecological projects are developed and practiced.
The group started in Athens in 2009 and moved to northern Euboea in 2010 after receiving land donations for environmental projects. This relocation allowed the development of the three sites where research and practical work now take place.
The name represents Freedom of Resources for Everyone, Everywhere and Respect, Equality, Awareness, and Learning, values that shape how the community operates. These principles guide the daily work visitors see across the site.
Visitors can take part in workshops on natural farming, eco-construction, renewable energy systems, and permaculture during their stay. Accommodations are available on-site in ecologically designed buildings.
The Telaithrion Project features a geodesic dome structure alongside a forest garden with hundreds of planted trees. The farming methods follow the approach of Japanese farmer Masanobu Fukuoka, whose techniques avoid heavy tilling of the soil.
