The Tholsel, Kilkenny, Municipal building in High Street, Kilkenny, Ireland

The Tholsel features a three-bay octagonal cupola with round-headed windows, clock faces, and louvres topped with a weather vane.

The third Tholsel structure, completed in 1761 for £1,315, replaced previous buildings from the 14th and 16th centuries at the same location.

The assembly room on the first floor served as the meeting place for Kilkenny Borough Council until its dissolution in 2014.

The ground floor contains five arched openings supported by Doric columns, which historically provided space for market activities.

In 1985, fireman Joe Stapleton rescued important city documents during a fire caused by an electrical fault in the building.
