Atlit, coastal town located south of Haifa, Israel.
Atlit is a former settlement in the Hof HaCarmel region. The village sits on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and is now composed of scattered ruins of houses, stone walls, and overgrown agricultural land that mark the footprint of daily life long ago.
The settlement was inhabited for generations until it was depopulated in the mid-20th century. The residents left during the period of regional upheaval and political change.
The site sits in open countryside and is accessible on foot, though sturdy shoes are needed since the ground is uneven. There are no facilities on-site, so bring water and sun protection when you visit.
