Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport, International airport in Lucknow, India
Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport is an international facility located about 12 kilometers from downtown Lucknow that serves both domestic and overseas flights. The terminal buildings offer check-in counters, waiting areas, and passenger facilities across multiple levels.
The terminal opened in 1986 and was named after India's fifth prime minister, who held office in 1979. Over the following decades, the facility expanded with new passenger halls and connections to additional destinations.
The facility carries the name of a former prime minister who was known as a farmer leader and came from this region. Travelers today see a mix of regional motifs and modern airport facilities throughout the terminals.
Taxis, ride-sharing options, and city buses connect the airport to different parts of Lucknow, with the journey to downtown taking around 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic. Travelers should arrive at least two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international departures.
The terminal handles more than two million passengers each year while remaining one of India's smaller international airports. Despite its more modest scale, the facility offers direct connections to several Indian cities and to overseas destinations.
