Bibiyapur Kothi, Historic residence on Gomti River banks in Lucknow, India.

Bibiyapur Kothi is a two-story residence on the Gomti River banks in Lucknow with neoclassical architectural features. The building displays high ceilings and a distinctive spiral staircase and is currently maintained by the Indian Army.

Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula commissioned Swiss architect Antoine Polier to design this residence in the late 1700s as a private refuge from court obligations. The building later became the site of important political events in the region.

The residence blends local Awadhi building traditions with French design elements using handmade Lakhauri bricks. Visitors can observe how these different influences come together in the structure's details and craftsmanship.

The building is accessible to visitors interested in exploring its historical architecture and royal heritage. It is helpful to allow adequate time for viewing the rooms and architectural details, and to be prepared for steep stairs when ascending.

A coronation ceremony took place here in 1798 when Nawab Saadat Ali Khan was formally crowned, marking a significant moment of power transition in the region. This historical event elevates the building's importance in the local ruling succession.
