Saint Thaddeus Monastery, Armenian monastery in Chaldoran County, Iran.

Saint Thaddeus Monastery is a stone sanctuary in Iran's Chaldoran region that displays distinctive Armenian architectural elements. The building features two domed sections and showcases intricate decorations across its exterior walls.

The monastery underwent four major reconstructions from 700 to 1814, reflecting the many periods of its existence. A major earthquake in 1319 damaged the structure, leading to significant repairs that shaped its current form.

Every year, Armenian pilgrims gather here for a three-day celebration honoring Saint Thaddeus, one of the first Christian apostles. The event shows how deeply this place is woven into the spiritual identity of Armenian communities.

The site welcomes visitors throughout the year with access through the main entrance. Guided tours in several languages are available for those who want to learn more about the place.

The building layers four distinct architectural styles into one structure: Armenian, Ilkhanid, Safavid, and Qajar elements. Walking through the monastery, you can see how each period left its mark on the walls and decorations.
