Baqcheh Jooq Palace

Baqcheh Jooq Palace is a royal residence in Maku with a rectangular courtyard encircled by two-story arcades. The property spans approximately 11 hectares of cultivated gardens and landscaped grounds.

Construction took place between 1858 and 1879 under the direction of Iqbal-ol-Saltaneh Makui. The building served as a retreat for military commanders during Mozafaredin Shah's reign.

The interior displays Persian artistic elements through colored tile mosaics, gilded mirrors, and intricate stucco moldings adorning walls and ceilings. These handcrafted details reveal the artistic traditions of the period.

The site is located approximately 8 kilometers between Maku and Bazargan border town, making it accessible from either location. Visitors can explore the museum through guided tours that lead through decorated rooms and extensive garden grounds.

The site features a specialized stone kitchen with polished surfaces that shows how meals were prepared. Multiple fountains are skillfully integrated throughout the garden landscape, enhancing water flow and cool air.
