Ishak Pasha Palace, Ottoman palace in Doğubayazıt, Turkey.
Ishak Pasha Palace is a complex built on several levels at the foot of Mount Ararat, with guard rooms, ceremonial halls, and living quarters. The buildings surround an open courtyard from which arched passages lead into the various rooms.
Construction began in the late 18th century under Ishak Pasha, who commissioned the complex as a seat of government and residence. The location along the old Silk Road made the site a strategic point for travelers and traders.
The palace courtyard once served as a gathering space where residents and guests met beneath the stone arches. Inscriptions along the main entrance walls reflect Persian calligraphy and Islamic motifs still visible today.
Access is through a steep road from Doğubayazıt that takes about ten minutes to drive and requires walking through areas with some uneven ground. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear as some sections have loose stones.
Channels run beneath the floors through which warm air circulated to heat the rooms during winter. This 18th-century system was the first of its kind in Anatolia.
