Carsoli

Carsoli is a commune in the Province of L'Aquila situated at an elevation of 616 meters in a mountainous area. The settlement spreads across hillsides with views toward the valleys of the Abruzzen region and offers access to hiking trails in the surrounding mountains.

The ancient Roman settlement of Carsioli was established between 302 and 298 BC as a strategic outpost to guard the road toward Alba Fucens. The location played an important role in Roman control of this mountainous region.
